The Barnyard Sanctuary, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit in Hope, New Jersey, rescues and cares for more than 300 farm animals on 170 rolling acres, relying entirely on donor generosity. Our most critical need right now is a heavy-duty brush hog. Without it, our horses and mini-horses must remain in small pens where they can barely stretch their legs. Overgrown weeds hide dangerous groundhog holes, making the larger pastures unsafe until we can clear and inspect them. A brush hog will allow us to safely locate and humanely cover these holes so our equine residents can finally run free. It will also open grazing areas for our donkeys, maintain clear and healthy pastures for all our animals, and keep our internal roads and future walking trails accessible year-round. We are seeking help to purchase a large brush hog (approx. $20,000). This is the single most urgent piece of equipment we need, and every day without it delays the animals’ freedom to roam and graze as they should. By stepping forward now, you will be solely responsible for giving these horses and mini-horses the chance to run free before winter and for creating healthier, safer pastures for every animal at The Barnyard Sanctuary.
